Renaissance Faires have been quite popular for many years and many people just love to dress up in Medieval dress. The Fairs themselves are quite fun to attend as they also adopt the cockney accents and behavior to entertain the guests. Although we often think romantically about that time period, the Middle Ages actually had quite severe living conditions unless you were lucky enough to be born into a noble family. This period of Europe's history is still alive and well today as we can see from the recent news coverage of the Pope's visit to the United Kingdom. The 2010 news broadcasts on this historic event of the Queen and the Pope on the same podium remarked that the split between the Papacy and England goes back to the infamous Henry VIII wanting to marry Anne Boleyn!
Also fairly recent was the cable TV show called The Tudors, which showed us the exquisite gowns, not only of the royal ladies, but the gallantly dressed gentlemen. Lace and frills and swirling capes adorned both sexes during those times. Rich, thick silks, velvets and damasks not only displayed their wealth, but kept them warm in those drafty stone castles. Tudor costumes have become quite popular as a result.
The gala events at the Court were times to show off the latest gowns and fashions, much like today. Gold embroidery and lace from France indicated one could afford the very best. Anyone who loves the fashions from that time period will be happy to know that Medieval dress and Tudor Costumes are readily available now.
One can even order a gown to dress like Anne Boleyn or for young girls, there are many princess costumes to choose from. If you are the "She who must be obeyed" personality, definitely order the Queen Costume and order everyone about! Not everyone was a Royal, of course, and there are also sexy Halloween costumes like the Pirate Wench if you feel like dressing up and getting lots of attention.
The men find the Renaissance costumes appealing as well, as what little boy didn't play King Arthur and slay dragons with his sword? Now there are King, Knight and even Jester costumes to appeal to men and boys of every age group. This makes it fun for whole families to dress in a group theme and go to Halloween parties as the Royal Family.
One nice thing about buying Tudor Costumes is that you can easily use them when you attend a local Renaissance Faire or Mardi Gras celebration so you certainly get your money's worth.
When looking for Tudor Costumes and Medieval Dress, be sure to check out what is called the Deluxe version of each costume as those will really make you look and feel as though you've stepped back in time, or off the set of The Tudors, as they are exquisitely detailed and designed.
